YMI Cultural Center Benefit

November 9, 2020 - December 31, 2020

We are excited to announce the Third installment of a kick off event and ongoing month-long benefit.

With a growing number of collaborators, presented by Just Bloom Together and hosted by One World Brewing!

This benefit and collaboration directly supports Black and Brown leaders, artists, and business owners in our local Asheville community; and the Black Lives Matter Movement as a whole.

The collaboration’s mission is to be a loving example of how we as a community can respect, honor, and celebrate each other’s unique gifts and voices while mutually lifting Black Asheville. The goal of the ongoing benefit is to achieve a more racially equitable and just community through actively contributing to the crowdfunding and general promotion of highlighted businesses and projects by local Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC).

On the first Thursday of each month, collaborators gather with local Black Lives Matter supporting performers and leaders to launch the month-long benefit for the chosen BIPOC business or organization. The sales of a chosen beverage found exclusively at  One World Brewing will directly fund highlighted Black leaders, artists, businesses, and projects.

Throughout the whole month, $2 of every pint of the chosen beverage is donated to the benefit, and for every crowler $4 is donated.

This month’s benefit is particularly special because it will actually be through the end of 2020 and is the Very Asheville Brew: Ashevegas, American Pale Ale, 6.3%

The third installment of the benefit launch is Thursday, November 5th from 6pm-9pm at One World West, 520 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC. 28806! This installment’s benefit is for the YMI Cultural Center (YMICC). The YMICC is a 501c3 organization with a newly redefined mission “to promote cultural preservation and elevate Black excellence through community engagement, advocacy, leadership, development, and economic justice.”

The benefit’s launch will coincide with the YMICC Capital Campaign aimed at preserving the historic building constructed in 1893 that houses the YMI Cultural Center located at 39 South Market St, and ensures its continued capacity to serve the community while sustaining the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission’s long-term goals. The YMICC has a particular focus on youth development, so the performers of the kick off event include several local Black Asheville youth:  Nina Gi,  The ONEMic Studio Initiative , and Music for the Movement including YMICC board member and local Black producer Nex Millen will be performing a live DJ set.

We are honored to add to a list of talented previous collaborators including  Different Wrld , JAWBREAKING , DJ Strongmagnumopus, Mike Martinez , DJ lil Meow Meow , and DJ Phantom Pantone . We are excited to have the YMI Cultural Center, Nex Millen, The ONEMic Studio Initiative, Nina Gi, and Hamilton Media Design join this ongoing community effort.
