Las Montañitas brings the Andes to the Appalachians. Drawing heavily from the Chicha Cumbia scene that emerged in Peru in the late 1960s, featuring psychedelic surf guitar tone, Afro-Colombian dance grooves, and Andean inspired melodies. Las Montañitas is Asheville’s newest dance party super group, with members of Black Sea Beat Society, Empire Strikes Brass, Mar and the Marmeladies, and Juan Benavides Group.
